Development
The Fire Instant Messenger Client is Free Software made available free to all under the GNU GPL. As such, volunteer developers are a vital part of our success.
To date, there have been three different project leads. The leadership may have changed, but our goal has remained the same: to provide a multi-protocol IM client for Mac OS X which is flexible without being overly complex. We hope you are pleased with Fire so far, but we realize that there is much to be done. Won't you join us?
Joining The Team
We are always looking for talented volunteers to join the fire development team. There are many people who participate in the development process in a number of ways. Specifically we are looking for:
- Objective C Developers - Who can help writing the source.
- Translators - Who can translate Fire into other languages.
- Graphic Designers - Who can create the icons and images we need.
- Technical Writers - Who can help us create the Online Help and FAQ.
- Forum Moderators - Who can help answer user's questions about Fire.
We welcome whatever level of help and effort you would like to give to the project. To get started, follow the appropriate link above to get specific instructions on how you can help.
Monitor SVN Changes
You can monitor changes to the SVN code at http://cia.navi.cx/stats/project/fire.
Run a Snapshot Build
Snapshot builds are made from time to time at random intervals. Be aware that these builds may be out of date and are Pre-Beta quality. These builds are also universal builds, so they should run on i386 just as well as on ppc. You are welcome to try them out at http://blog.fireim.org/download/.
